After more than 2 years confined in the house, people’s habits began to change. With limited activities outside the home, people start looking for ways to continue their connection with nature by incorporating natural elements into the room.
The choice of earth tone and natural light will be primadona for at least the next few years, such as bringing more sunlight into the house. A large ventilation and starting to add plants into consideration in designing home interiors are the choices of many people today.

Green is a new “star” for 2022
Gray is nearing the end of its decade of popularity, and green is new hot colour for 2022.
Neutrals like white, beige, and gray have all been popular colors throughout the home. But gray, in particular, seems to be phasing out the quickest. “Color schemes come and go but typically have a popularity lifeline of about a decade. Gray is coming to the end of its decade,” DelMonico told Insider.
“People are growing tired of neutral colors like white, beige, and gray.” She added that while gray colour scheme were once popular for their universally appealing, modern look — especially in kitchens — we should expect to see more bold and dramatic colors for cabinets and backsplashes this year.
Greg Voorhis, executive design director at Sunbrella, told the spurce that green is also great for the exterior. “The fascination with green is nothing new, but it’s certainly gaining momentum,” he said. “Earlier, we talked about bringing the best of the indoors into the great outdoors.
But now we’re seeing a trend reversal, with uplifting greens and botanicals making their way into homes in everything from paint to cushions.”

Curved lines will not hurt us
Giving an interior design that is dominated by curved furniture will still be a trend in 2022, a curved design will give a soft and comfortable impression.
This is stated by the creative and interior director at WGSN, Riberti Lisa White that “Curve designs don’t have to be curvaceous and exaggerated, but are gentle on the eyes and hands to create an overall relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in the room.”
For examples the design of a door that has curves above it, or the selection of benches and chairs that do not have corners.
In line with White’s statement, Sarah Sherman Samuel also said “A curved form is subconsciously read as safe, friendly and welcoming. With everyone feeling a bit precious I think those softer shapes and angles will still be a big trend in 2022 in furniture as well as architecture.”

DIY and upcycling furniture
Nowadays people are increasingly aware that the world has begun to be overwhelmed in handling whatever is left of human use. The habit of using disposable items can no longer be tolerated, and making used items into something that is just starting to get popular again. Like making a kitchen from used wood, or making furniture from old paint cans.
UK-based Patience and Gough, a design duo based in Cumbria in Northern England, are seeking to change people’s stereotypical association of upcycling “Now the whole upcycling world has changed,” he states, “and talented designers and artists are seeing furniture as the new canvas for their work, breeding interesting and innovative designs.”
